מטרות הקורס:

הבנת מושג התרבות. פיתוח רגישות תרבותית והבנת הקשר בין הבדלים על רקע תרבות,  דת, עדה, גזע, מגדר, מעמד ,צרכים מיוחדים לשילוב חברתי, בריאות נפשית, והישגים לימודיים ויכולת לתרגם הבנה ורגישות זו להגדרה והבנה מחודשת של תפקיד הייעוץ וההשלכות של הבנה זו לעבודת הייעוץ הלכה למעשה.

תוכן הקורס: הקורס ידון בהגדרת מושג התרבות ובהגדרת מושג הרב תרבותיות . היות והחברה הישראלית מורכבת מקבוצות שונות בעלות רקע תרבותי שונה כמו גם חברות רבות אחרות בעולם בגלל תהליכי הגירה מואצים, לכן קיימים הבדלים גדולים  במדדי הסתגלות , בריאות נפשית, הישגים לימודיים והתפתחות מיטבית בקרב תלמידים על רקע של שייכות לקבוצות תרבות שונות. הדרכים המסורתיות לייעוץ וחינוך מתקשות להתמודד עם פערים אלו ואף חלק מהחוקרים טוענים כי הם תורמים להגברת הפערים הקיימים בין הקבוצות השונות.  על רקע זה התפתחו גישות חדשות לייעוץ המעמידות באור ביקורתי את הגישות המסורתיות לייעוץ וקוראות להגדרה מחודשת של הייעוץ ופתוח תאוריות חדשות בתחום זה.
