M.A in The Leadership, Organizational Development and Policy in Education program

About the Program The Program of Leadership and Management at the Faculty of Education at Bar-Ilan University is dedicated to fostering the next generation of educational leaders and researchers. Established in the mid-1970s, it initially focused on foundational leadership theories and basic management principles for undergraduate students. In the 1980s, a master's program with a thesis track was added, integrated with school principal training in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. Over the years, the curriculum has been regularly updated to reflect the latest research and trends, ensuring students receive a cutting-edge education. The program recruits expert researchers with field experience to promote innovative research, train new researchers, and develop educational leaders for various educational frameworks. In the 2000s, the school principal training shifted to a one-year certification program offered at colleges. In the last decade, the program has included the 'Nachshonim Program,' a group of military students with educational and command experience, preparing them for roles in teaching and management. The program aims to advance educational research and prepare leaders for diverse educational settings, ensuring a robust and dynamic educational leadership landscape. Specifically, this program is designed to equip students with the skills necessary for effective leadership and management in educational settings, blending theoretical insights with practical solutions to address real-world challenges in education. |
MA Program Focuses on leadership theory, research, and organizational change. Emphasizes ethical leadership, diversity, inclusion, and bridging educational gaps, while equipping students to critically analyze policies and conduct research to inform leadership and policy decisions. Also, we aim to equip students with skills to conduct independent research, analyze data, and apply findings to enhance leadership practices and educational policies, driving practical and theoretical progress in the field. The curriculum includes courses on leadership theories, organizational behavior, policy analysis, finance, globalization, leadership in multicultural society, entrepreneurship, simulations, and innovation. The program also offers a range of methodological courses, equipping students with the necessary research skills to conduct rigorous academic work and research and apply evidence-based practices in educational settings. It prepares students for academic and research-based careers, as well as high-level administrative roles in education. The program has also embraced international perspectives, incorporating global best practices and comparative education studies into the curriculum. Courses in English are proposed to prepare students to lead in a globally interconnected educational landscape. |
specialization tracks The program aims to continue its growth by introducing new specialization tracks: The first focuses on Informal Education: Community and Youth. It prepares students to lead non-formal education initiatives in schools, youth movements, and educational volunteer organizations, emphasizing practical management and organizational development. The second track, Higher Education, offers a deep understanding of higher education globally and locally, covering university administration, academic challenges, policy-making, leadership dynamics, and organizational change. The third track, Leadership in Jewish Education, equips students to manage and develop educational systems within Jewish frameworks, integrating philosophy, leadership in diaspora, public diplomacy, civic advocacy, multiculturalism, and cultural heritage expertise. The admission requirements are established through a rigorous process. This includes evaluating academic records, professional experience, leadership potential, and a commitment to educational innovation. |
