School of Teacher Education – General Information
Guided by the belief that the future lies in education, the School of Teacher Education is dedicated to promoting excellence in education and encouraging university graduates from all scientific disciplines to integrate into the education system.
The wide range of programs offered allows for an optimal combination of high-level academic studies with professional training in education and pedagogy.
Studies at the School of Teacher Education enable students to fulfill their personal potential while making a meaningful contribution to both the individual and society.
Teacher certification is offered as a diploma program, in addition to a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in one of the secondary education teaching fields.
Advisors and Individual Consultation
Students can receive individual consultation at the School of Teacher Education office to help evaluate the most suitable study program. Exemptions from parts of the coursework may be granted based on students’ subject area (specialization) and previous academic studies.
Goals of the Teacher Education Program: To provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical training in teaching.
Students will be trained to teach their area of specialization in secondary schools—both middle and high school levels.
Upon completion of the teacher education program, graduates receive a teaching certificate in addition to their academic degree.
Curriculum
The teacher education curriculum which includes both theoretical and practical coursework, typically spans over two years of study (except for certain special programs).
Students experience practical training in schools in two stages:
Stage A – Teaching practicum
Stage B – Supervised in-school teaching
Course Exemptions
Students may be eligible for exemptions from up to one-third of the program based on prior academic studies and their course of study. For more information about exemption eligibility, please contact the School of Education office.
